You might have heard the stories of many successful companies that have had their origins in colleges. In most cases, college students or recent graduates have cofounded companies with their friends. In some cases, they might have cofounded companies along with their seniors. But it is slightly rarer though, to see college professors and their students teaming up to start a company. Yes Amphisoft was started by such a rare combination of a team of 4 people - 2 college professors and two of their students.
When Dr. Pradeep Kumar ( CIO ) and Mrs. Punitha Pradeep ( MD ) were teaching Mr. Sivaramakrishanan ( Sr. Tech. Architect ) and Mr. Pradeeep ( CTO ) in college, they jelled together as a team and started working on few Govt funded projects and were also working on developing few systems for college like Library Management System. They used to stay and work together most of the days. Dr. Pradeep and Mrs. Punitha could see that enthusiasm and passion in these 2 guys to work hard and achieve greater things. During their college days, the days that they have spent together would be much more than the days that they have spent with their parents.
Later, after completing their degree, Mr. Sivaramakrishnan joined Infosys in Chennai and Mr. Pradeep joined a Bangalore based start up Cranes Software.
Dr. Pradeep and Mrs. Punitha also moved over to TCS . They were a part of a program named Ignite in TCS. TCS Ignite is a learning program for young science graduates who are selected to be employed in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). This is an intense, four-month long learning program to help orient science graduates from different academic disciplines to the IT industry and the corporate world.
They were a part of Ignite in its initial days and were involved in setting up the learning process model, learning infrastructure and in designing the currciulum. There were only 5 members in the Ignite core team and they used to manage 600 trainees at any point of time. It was made possible due to the use of many open source tools and learning management systems like Moodle, Mooshak
With a systematic technology enabled learning process model, they could see the transformation that the Ignite trainees underwent in a short span of 4 months training period. After they were placed in projects, they started receiving very good feedback on their performance from their team leads. Most of them said that their performance was in no way lesser than the performance of the engineering graduates in the team.
Having come from an academic background, This really made them wonder. If the science graduates can be skilled in 4 months to be more or less equivalent to an average engineering graduate, then what is the state of Engineering Education System in India?
That is when they thought what is it that they could do to improve the Indian Engineering Education System?
They decided to start a company on their own and develop a comprehensive technology enabled active learning platform that would revolutionize the way in which Engineering Education will happen in India. In turn they wanted to make the Global IT world to look at India as a Knowledge Partner and as an Innovation partner rather than as a vendor partner to outsource all their mundane tasks.

In our 9 year long journey, Amphisoft has crossed many a milestone and is growing from strength to strength. The journey was indeed not an easy one. We had to face a lot coming through this journey, a lot of sacrifices, difficulties, challenges and failures. We realized that to be a successful entrepreneur you should have a dream that does not let you sleep. As the saying goes, Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. The team that we have built, the personal bonding that we shared and the mutual trust and respect we had on each other made us sail through the difficult phase.
